Membership Benefits

Each year NPRRA sponsors a national convention somewhere in the United States to bring members together for the purpose of networking, education and the developing of business relationships. The two-day convention includes timely topics that cover public records, management issues, technology advances and legislation.

NPRRA produces a quarterly newsletter for all members that provides information about changes in public records status at the state level nationwide. The newsletter includes updates on changes within the association and informs members of important industry news and upcoming events.

Code of Ethics

Preface:     The NPRRA, in striving to fulfill its mission to be an educational and networking resource for its members, seeks to establish a Code of Ethics to guide all members and associates in their day to day operations and business associations. the following set of statements are intended to be used as guidelines and postulates for members and associates to use in measuring their behavior. It is the sincere wish of the board of the NPRRA that all members abide by and move above and beyond the codes set forth. Since the NPRRA nor its Board have any authority to enforce these codes (or monitor compliance with such), it only hopes to inspire each and every member and associate to adopt and uphold these principles.

Declaration of Professional Ethics

As members and associates of the national Public Records Research Association, we commit:

  • To treat each member and associate of the NPRRA, its Board members and any invited guests, with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism at any gathering of the membership and in all situations;
  • to respect other companies by avoiding attempts to injure a member or an associate's reputation through malicious conversations among other members and the public;
  • To strictly comply with the letter and the spirit of antitrust laws as set forth by the Sherman Act of 1890 and referenced in the NPRRA publication, "Antitrust Guidelines for Members;"
  • To promptly pay for services which you have received from any member or associate in the NPRRA, and when prompt payment isn't possible, communicate timely with your correspondent/vendor for making other arrangements.

And to the general public, our clients and legal entities, we commit:

  • To treat all client information confidentially, whether the client is a competitor or end-user;
  • To engender trust in ourselves and fellow NPRRA members and associates by delivering on promises better than expected and avoiding all attempts to speak ill of others in the absence of the third party;
  • To comply with and keep current all business licenses, permits and any other requirements mandated by government agencies of the city, county, state and/or country in which we conduct business;
  • Unless we are a licensed attorney, avoid conducting ourselves in a manner that would cause our clients or the general public to believe that we are authorized and licensed to practice law;
  • To work to foster a spirit of cooperation and service among the various government officials and officers that we transact business with on a daily basis. To assist them when necessary and possible to provide timely and accurate information and filing service when called upon to do so. And above all, avoid making the filing officers scapegoats for errors and omissions that are attributable to your firm's actions.

    As a professional organization that leads the public records industry, NPRRA offers the above Declaration of Professional Ethics for its members and asks that each member and associate commit daily to adhering to these guidelines as part of their corporate and personal values.
