Court Record Online Access Update: Mississippi
Mississippi is implementing the Mississippi Electronic Courts System (MEC). This comprehensive case management system allows courts to offer electronic case filing and to maintain electronic case files via the internet; it is very similar to the Federal Courts’ CM/ECF case management system. Over 20 Circuit, County and Chancery Courts are participating with more planning to join this year.
It should be noted that the MEC is only a secondary system; MEC is not an online/onsite equivalent system.
To view documents in MEC, there is a $10.00 annual registration fee and a charge of $.20 per page to view documents. Cases included are criminal, civil, probate, and eviction; divorce, adoption, mental commitment and debt collection cases are not available. The availability of electronic historical case files is presently inconsistent.
Check with the MEC directly for current information and updates: http://courts.ms.gov/mec/mec.html.
